Setting up PayPal payments
Connecting your verified PayPal account is the first step to earning money as a contributor! When you apply to join the Contributor Network, we'll ask you to set up PayPal payments on your account. All contributors receive test payments through PayPal, so completing this task as soon as possible is essential.
- The PayPal account you use to set up payments should be registered in your name. In other words, you can't use another person's account.
- You should never share your PayPal account with another contributor.

What's a verified PayPal account?
When your account is verified, it means PayPal has confirmed that the financial details you've shared are accurate. Usually, PayPal verifies this information when you connect your banking details (e.g., a bank account or debit card) and then complete additional steps to verify that those financial accounts belong to you.
Why does it matter if my account is verified?
Setting up your PayPal account with accurate financial information is the best way to ensure you receive your payments on time without any problems. For example, it's a good measure to prevent banking issues, avoid limitations on your PayPal account, and keep your payments secure.
How do I know if my PayPal account is verified?
If you've already added your bank account, debit card, or credit card to your PayPal account and completed the confirmation steps, then it's likely that your account is already verified. However, we'll check your verification status for you when you try to connect your PayPal account.
If your PayPal account isn't verified yet, an Action required badge will display on this task instead.
How do I verify my PayPal account?
In most cases, to verify your PayPal account, you'll need to:
Add a bank account, credit card, or debit card to your account
To complete this step, just log into your PayPal account from a web browser or PayPal's mobile app.
Confirm the account or card you've added belongs to you
To verify your financial information, you'll need to confirm ownership of the bank account or cards you've added. Depending on how you choose to confirm your details, this can take just a few minutes or up to three business days.
What if my PayPal account is already verified?
When you connect your PayPal account, we'll check your verification status. If your PayPal account is verified, a Done badge will display next to the Set up PayPal Payments task on your applicant checklist.
What should I do once my PayPal account is verified?
After you've verified your PayPal account, you'll need to return to your applicant checklist and link your PayPal account. Learn more about connecting your PayPal account.
