Do I have to pay to be a UserTesting contributor?
No! You get paid to provide your feedback to customers.
Is there an age requirement to be a UserTesting contributor?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to be a UserTesting contributor.
How much do I get paid?
Reward amounts will vary depending on factors like customer demand, the test type, and even the type of tasks the customer asks you to complete during the test.
You can always find how much you'll get paid for any test on your test feed. Just look for the payment amount on the test invite.
When do I get paid?
Payments are sent seven days from the time you complete a test.
How soon can I start taking tests?
Once you've completed each step on your applicant checklist, you can view any available tests from your contributor dashboard!
What kind of device do I need?
You can use a desktop or mobile device, but it must meet our minimum system requirements:
For Windows computers:
- Operating system: Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11
- Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge (current version and previous version)
- Upload speed: At least 3.0 Mbps
- Maximum screen resolution: 1920x1080
- Screen ratio: 16:9
For Mac computers:
- Operating system: OS X 10.15 or higher
- Browser:
- Chrome, Firefox, Edge (current version and previous version)
- Safari: Versions 14.0-15.3 only
We're currently unable to support Safari 15.4.
- Upload speed: At least 3.0 Mbps
- Maximum screen resolution: 1920x1080 (recommended)
- Screen ratio: 16:9 (recommended)
For iOS devices:
- Operating system: Two latest versions
- Memory: At least 400MB of available space on your device
- Battery level: At least 20%
For Android devices:
- Operating system: Android OS 10.0 or higher
- Memory: At least 400MB of available space on your device
- Battery level: At least 20%
Do I need a microphone to be a UserTesting contributor?
Yes, we want to hear your feedback loudly and clearly! If you don't own a microphone, here's an inexpensive one we recommend.
Do I need to download anything?
- If you apply from a computer, you don't need to download anything for the practice test. You'll complete a few steps to set up your microphone, share your screen, and then start the trial directly from your web browser.
- If you apply from a mobile device, you'll need to download our UserTesting App from the App Store or Google Play.
Is PayPal the only way to get paid?
Yes, you must have a personal PayPal account to receive payments. If you don't have an account yet, you can visit PayPal to create one.
Applicants in India: To receive payments, you'll need to create a PayPal Business account instead. For more information, please contact PayPal.
Are my payments taxed?
UserTesting doesn't withhold any taxes from your payments. Contributors are responsible for determining any tax liabilities incurred from payments received by UserTesting.
Do I have to be in the United States to do testing?
No, UserTesting contributors are located all around the globe! 🌎
How do I apply to be a UserTesting contributor?
You can visit our sign-up page and enter your email address. You'll create your UserTesting account and then complete each step on your applicant checklist:
- Take a practice test
- Create your profile
- Verify your email address
- Connect your PayPal account
You can also access the applicant checklist from a desktop computer or mobile device. So, if you want to switch between your devices—you can!
