Most tests on UserTesting take about 15 to 20 minutes. This article explains what to expect, when longer tests should include a bonus, and what to do if a test takes too long.
In this article:
How long do tests usually take?
Most customers design their tests to take 15 to 20 minutes. If a customer expects their test to take longer, they should let you know in the screener or the test requirements.
Why are some tests longer than others?
Your test might take more time for a few reasons:
- Your internet or device runs slowly
- You take extra time to understand or complete the tasks
- You give more detailed answers
Some customers may also design tests that are longer than the usual 15 to 20 minutes. If a customer invites you to take a longer test, they should clearly explain this in the screener or test requirements.
If a test is taking you a while to finish and the customer didn’t let you know to expect this, please report a problem. Learn when it's best to report a problem
Do I get a bonus payment for longer tests?
You should only expect a bonus if the customer clearly stated that the test would include a bonus payment. Usually, this information is in the screener, test requirements, or scenario.
If the customer hasn't clearly offered a bonus, you won’t get one just for taking more time. If there's no bonus and the test is taking too long, it's always best just to stop and report it.
What should I do if it's taking a long time to finish a test?
If the customer didn't mention the test would be longer than usual, please stop and report a problem. We'll get in touch with the customer, and you can return to your dashboard to accept a different test.
