What is UserTesting?
UserTesting connects you with companies who want to understand how to improve the user experience of their product and services. That’s where your feedback comes in!
When you join the UserTesting Network, researchers from those companies invite you to share your thoughts and ideas during sessions we call tests. During a test, you might respond to survey questions, complete a set of tasks as you record yourself thinking out loud, or even meet one-on-one with a researcher.
How do I sign up?
We’re happy you asked! You can apply to join the UserTesting Network in a few easy steps.
To sign up from a computer: Visit the sign-up page.
To sign up from a mobile device: Download the UserTesting mobile app on the App Store or Google Play.
When you’re ready, you’ll enter your email address to create an account and start working on your application.
To complete your application, you’ll need to:
- Confirm your email address
- Set up PayPal payments
- Create your profile
- Take a quick practice test
What’s the practice test?
Before we approve you to take paid tests, you must complete a practice test. The practice test is our way of making sure you’re comfortable speaking your thoughts out loud and can follow instructions.
Here are some tips for your practice test:
- Find a quiet place where you won’t be distracted.
- Make sure your microphone is working.
- If you’re using a cellphone, check that your battery is charged (at least 20%).
- Confirm that your Internet connection is stable.
- Read the test instructions carefully.
- Remember to think out loud and speak loudly and clearly.
- Have fun!
How can I take paid tests?
Once you've passed the practice test and set up your account, you'll start receiving invitations to take paid tests.
Completing your first paid test
After you complete your first paid test, we’ll temporarily pause your test invitations so our Quality Team can review your test and assign your first test rating. This is an opportunity for you to understand how test ratings work and get personalized tips on how to do better on your next test.
How test ratings work
When you complete a paid test, customers have the option to rate the quality of your feedback.
Testing ratings reflect:
- How well you followed the test instructions
- How much you spoke your thoughts out loud
- How detailed your written responses were
- How easy it was to hear your recorded feedback
- Whether you took enough time to complete the test
