If you quit a test before you finish, the customer doesn’t receive your recording or your responses, and no partial recording is kept. Here’s what that means for you and what happens next.
In this article:
Does the customer get my recording if I quit?
No. If you quit a test, report a problem, or close the test tab or window before you finish, your recording doesn’t reach the customer. We don’t keep a partial recording, so there’s nothing to delete.
How do I quit a test?
The steps depend on your device:
- How do I quit a test or report a problem on a computer?
- How do I quit a test or report a problem on a mobile device?
What happens after I quit?
- The test invite goes to other participants, so you can’t take that test again.
- You won’t be paid for a test that doesn’t reach the customer.
- A Test in progress message may stay on your dashboard after you leave. Learn what to do if the Test in progress message doesn’t clear.
What if I showed personal information by accident?
Sometimes personal details appear on screen while you’re recording, for example when Chrome autofills a saved card or address, or a notification pops up. If this happens, quit the test or report a problem. The customer won’t receive the recording, so they won’t see that information.
To keep it from happening again, turn off autofill before you start a test. Learn more in Protecting your privacy while testing.
Should I quit or report a problem?
Report a problem when something about the test or the recorder stops you from finishing it, such as a broken link or a recorder that won’t work. Quit when the test is fine but you’d like to stop, for example if you’re distracted or you’re not comfortable sharing something. Either way, the customer doesn’t receive your recording.
